Inlays & Onlays

Holistic Dental Approach

Dental onlays and inlays are options for repairing broken or decayed teeth that preserve more tooth structure than crowns and provide more strength than large fillings. At BioSmiles, it's always our goal to keep teeth alive and vital. We choose the least invasive technique to preserve as much of your natural tooth as possible. One such solution is onlays and inlays. These are a great option in place of a crown or large filling.

Onlays and inlays are made out of porcelain because of porcelain's strength and durability. If you had a large cavity or root canal treatment an inlay or onlay is often the best option for repairing the integrity of your teeth. Because of their ability to preserve more of your natural tooth and their strength, they are an excellent solution for back molars requiring more chewing stability.

At BioSmiles, we believe in preserving your natural teeth as much as possible. That's why we recommend inlays and onlays as a more conservative treatment option, only opting for full all ceramic crowns when necessary. In addition, we provide supportive therapies like ozone and prf to quicken recovery as needed and biocompatibility testing to ensure you are constantly receiving the care best for you.

Dental onlays and inlays
Our Process

Inlays and onlays are different than fillings, which is formed inside the mouth, whereas onlays and inlays are made from porcelain outside the mouth and then attached to your natural tooth. Inlays are used to fill in the depressions in your teeth, while onlays rebuild more of the structure by fitting over the edge of the tooth, recreating cusps.

The process is similar to a crown. An impression of your smile is taken to create the custom shape needed to repair your tooth. Then the area is numbed and prepped for the onlay or inlay to be placed and permanently bonded to your natural tooth.

At BioSmiles, regular checkups and cleanings are essential to maintaining optimal oral health. While inlays and onlays don't require additional care beyond your natural teeth, we recommend scheduling checkups every six months to extend the lifespan of your inlay or onlay.
